Goodness & Mercy Follow Me

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.  Psalm 23

This morning I’m sitting in my home using my new mug I bought yesterday in Cayman Island. We arrived home last night after spending a wonderful week away with my daughter who is leaving for Nashville, Tennessee in just 3 weeks to attend college. We also enjoyed time with my son, daughter-in-law, and our new 3-month-old grandbaby and my daughter’s best friend. Our time away was special for so many reasons. The older I get, the more I realize every moment with family is like gold. I couldn’t be more grateful for our time together.

What made the time even more valuable is that just hours before we were getting ready to leave for our trip, my husband and I were involved in a very bad car accident. It is a total gift from God that we are here today. Our car was a total loss. I truly thought I was not only not going on our trip, but that I wasn’t going to make it. I’m not being dramatic when I tell you it was a very terrible accident.

We were taken to the ER trauma unit and checked out with no broken bones or internal injuries. We had bruises, scrapes, and were extremely shaken and sore.  It’s a total God-miracle we walked away from the accident.

We didn’t think we could go on the trip, but the officer who took our statement at the hospital solidified our decision to continue with our plans. He said… “This was an accident. Accidents happen every day. This accident is over. Go.”

The next miracle that occurred was that we made it through the travel day. My husband was extremely sore and was having a hard time moving. I feel like God gave me supernatural ability. I’m not kidding or exaggerating. It was a total miracle that I had energy and ability to move. I absolutely know it was the covering of The Lord because once I got there, I was completely hurting and sore.

With each new day, my husband and I were getting better. There is nothing on this trip I wanted to do that I wasn’t able to because of the accident. I give all glory, honor, and praise to God for the miracles that have occurred in our lives over the last 2 weeks.

Praise the Lord!
